Results-Based Logic Model for Primary Health Care – Now available in French

The Centre for Health Services and Policy Research at the University of British Columbia recently released a results-based logic model for primary healthcare using the Treasury Board of Canada's management accountability framework, policy analysis, research evidence, and broad consultation. Previously only in English, this report is now available in French.

Results-based logic models linearly link resource inputs to activities performed, services delivered, and outcomes achieved. The model illuminates the activities that are potential levers for change; recognizes the unique features of primary healthcare; and identifies the way in which primary healthcare and other health sectors converge to affect health system performance and the health of the population.

This logic model will be useful to primary healthcare policy makers, planners, managers, evaluators, and practitioners.

Foundation launches primary healthcare network – discussion paper now available

As part of the Foundation's launch of the first pan-Canadian primary healthcare network, a discussion paper based on the discussions from the network's first seminar is now available.

"Implementing primary healthcare reform: strategies to align stakeholder support" (PDF - 219 KB) provides a summary of a recent seminar that gathered together policy makers, practitioners, managers, and academics to discuss challenges associated with primary healthcare reform.

This seminar provided participants with a forum to share ideas about the difficulties of implementation and an opportunity to envision strategies that can be used to mobilize further support for primary healthcare, translating the rhetorical adherence to the principles of primary healthcare into operational systems leading to sustained actions.
